Work + Mentor + whatever lah!

No update for a week. Interesting isn’t it? Haha! Oh well, I am only updating my blog once a week that is if I am not busy during the weekends lah. So now my days revolve around work only. Nothing much actually.

On Monday, I had my half day induction. I was kinda sleepy since it is early morning. I reached Tanjong Pagar MRT quite early. Walk to exit G and the next moment I find myself surrounded by many buildings. OK. So now where should I proceed? I have no idea where MND building is. Really! I remembered Anne told me it is the tallest building. So being lost and stupid enough not to ask the people around, I compared all the buildings and headed to the tallest building. After crossing the endless traffic lights, I told myself “eh this road is not Maxwell Road anymore”. So I know I am at the wrong building. So turned around in the middle of the pavement and my pair of eyes was hooked to the letter MND on a building. So I had to U-turn and cross the same traffic lights again and proceed to the building. Exchange my IC for the visitor pass and told them I want to go 8th floor. So they told me to take lift A to the 2nd floor and take lift B or C to the 8th floor.

There were altogether 10 people in the room which consists of 5 School Laboratory Technicians (SLT), 2 Corporate Support Officers (CSO), 1 Operation Manager (OM) and 2 Full time counselors. As usual we had to introduce ourselves and blah3. I have no idea why the trainer kept asking me questions. Perhaps she only knows my name which is kinda weird since Chinese don’t really bother to remember my name but she is different. Throughout the induction, she asked me a lot of questions. I am fine with it actually. After the induction, 3 of us headed to the nearest coffee shop and had our lunch. There, we exchanged our experience during the interview session at MOE. I was shocked to hear that the CSO was interviewed by 5 people while SLT was only interviewed by 3 people. So I can imagine how scary that moment was for her.

I took a train to commonwealth and took a bus to Mujahidin Mosque. I had my zuhur prayer there and proceed to the school thereafter. The bus was late and obviously I was already complaining. The funny part came when I was counting the number of bus stop. Once the bus left the 7th bus stop I press the bell. But I realized I should have alighted at the 7th bus stop because that was where I saw the school. The moment I alighted the bus, time check 1.35pm. So it is obvious I was late. Well done. So the next thing that is running in my head is how I am supposed to get to the school. The road is so busy. No overhead bridge for me to cross over and take the bus to the school. I saw a taxi and I just hailed it. Luckily there the taxi stopped. I told the taxi driver to bring me to St. Margaret’s Secondary School. He just drove and I opened my mouth to tell him it is just one stop away because I missed the bus stop. Then he says “there is a school behind? I didn’t know”. So luckily I opened my mouth to tell him that if not he will bring me round Singapore and I will be very late. After I got infront of the school, I have no idea how to enter since there is no gate. Haha! I only saw a gate and stairs that is leading to the chapel. So I had to tip toed and peeked in to see where the stairs is heading to. Luckily it leads to the school. So I went straight to the security guard and asked where the general office is and it is just infront of me. Selenger! I went in and told them I was deployed to this school by the MOE as SLT and I need to see the principal. Sounds demanding but I wasn’t. haha! I had to write down my name on a piece of paper and they checked for me. It took almost 30 minutes before the Admin Manager came to me to talked to me and bring me round the school and introduced me to the principal, vice-principal and staff. I waited for the HOD who is my supervisor to come and talked to me. An hour has gone waiting for him. He wanted me to station myself in the Bio lab but he says it will be good that I learnt and familiarize with all the things and procedure in the lab first for at least 2 years before I station myself there.

Come Tuesday, that was my first day in the lab. It was rather tiring I must say. Having to walk almost a kilometer. HAHA! No lah. From bio lab to the chem. Lab is quite far. Not side by side ok! And physics lab is on the next floor. No lift only stairs. So I had to go up and carry voltmeter and ammeter. Learn how to make the solution for titration. Very tak fhm langsung! But slowly lah I will get used to it. Semlm dah fhm sikit2 jek. Oh ya. I was setting up the apparatus at physics lab when the thermometer I clamp on the retort stand fall and kaching! It broke into pieces. Baik ah! Dah lama tak pecah kan benda. Skali dah pecah panic skejap. My senior lab tech told me not to touch anything. Ok aku di buat cam budak2. they explained to me mercury ni bahaya lah blah3. in my head I was like, “HELLO! I DID STUDY THIS BEFORE LAH. SO DON’T NEED TO BISING2 EXPLAIN to me!”

Actually I am getting irritated with my senior lab tech and lab attendant. Everytime I express my suggestion, dorg mesti ckp no no. aku explain gitu gini smue no. takder pun yes. AKU MCM NAK TEMPELENG DORG OK! Aku nyer lab attendant ni mentang2 dah keje 10 tahun konon nyer experience sgt lah. Aku ni baru masuk mcm selenger sgt lah pd dia. She was washing the pipette when she said it is difficult to remove the stain blah3. She dipped it inside the acid. Mana air nak masuk. So I told her to use the rubber pump lah so the liquid will reached the top. She mati2 ckp no no. MAMPUS! Dlm hati aku eh kenapa korg ni taknak dgr ckp aku ah. Korg ingat korg pandai sgt ke pe. Dah lama2 dier bising. I emphasize again “I SAID USE THE RUBBER PUMP. YOU DON’T WANT TO LISTEN. YOUR PROBLEM LAH!” then she said I know I know the liquid can go up right. YA ALLAH! AKU TAHU LAH! AKU SURO KO GUNAKAN. BUKAN SURO KO EXPLAIN PD AKU! Then lepas dier pakai dier complain lg ckp rubber pump tu dah rosak. Ape tak. Ko masuk kan air ape hal! Pump air takya sampai tinggi2 sampai masuk rubber pump. Ya ALLAH! Dorg ni mcm act dorg tahu tapi complain2. GERAM2! Aku buat smue dorg ckp no no. takpe2. sabar2. communicate ngan org tua gini lah. Punya susah! Haiz

Did I tell you my senior lab tech has worked for 39 years and she is now 59 years old. My lab attendants have worked for 10 years. So they used their experience to bising2 ngan aku. Kang aku smack kang. Baru tahu. My lab attendants are both India so imagine their accent and I swear I don’t quite understand what they talked to me sometimes. I just go oh really ah. Oh ic. Tapi pdhal tak fhm satu haprak pun.

I was supposed to go mendaki today but was too tired to go. My body is aching. Ape tak asyik angkat stock yg berat kedengak jek! This work used up a lot of my energy. If you get a teacher who is so banyak songgeh and cerewet. Gd luck lah. Bnyk apparatus kene prepare and kene cuci. Since my adik had registered as a mentor with Mendaki, I told my adik not to go also so the next time they have this same workshop we can go together. Tomorrow I have a meeting up cum bonding session with mentors and mentees from PPIS at Safra Yishun. I heard there is rock-climbing. Wohoo! I looked forward to it but I really hope the mentors and mentees are gerek2 type lah.

Ok dah! Aku malas nak type lg! fhm tak? Klu bnyk error gasak lah! Tak kuasa dah!
