Yummy Muffins & YIA Plus Programme
In order to make full use of the time I had at home, I decided on baking chocolate muffins and you know what? It was extremely scrumptious. Even my family made positive remarks on the taste of the mouthwatering chocolate muffins. Despite all the encouraging remarks, there bound to be some flaws. Firstly, the appearance didn’t turn out as I have expected due to the unavailability of muffin cups. Instead of the top bulging outwards which should somewhat looked like plateau, it remained flat. Secondly, since it was my first trial, I baked it at a much longer period and because of that, the top turned out a little crispy. Despite it being crispy, my brothers loved it so much and so does my parents. However, after I ate 5 pieces, the feeling of “jelak” kicked in and I succumbed by drinking plenty of water. So having to yield, they got to taste more of the muffins per individual which had made my family felt a sense of paradise.
That aside, I went for interview cum briefing for the Youth in Action Plus programme run by PPIS-jurong FSC. I gave myself a grade A for alighting at the right bus stop despite taking 3 different buses because I had my asar prayer at Al-mukminin mosque before heading there. After alighting from the bus, I rate myself 5/10 for losing my way to the intended destination and discriminating myself. Judging from the map, the place looked somewhere near the bus stop. So, after alighting from the bus stop, I confidently walked to the block that is nearest to the bus stop only to find out that the block is 527 and PPIS-Jurong FSC is located at block 520. So I stood in the middle of the pavement trying to locate where the block is and I was shocked to see there are no block number to lead me. So I tawakkal and walked to my left. Still looking around hoping to see a block number to guide my way, I found a block number 525. I walked further to my left and finally saw block 521. That was my first happy moment at least. I saw the childcare centre and walked a bit to the front where the office is located. Push the door but it didn’t move. I looked at the door. The door signed stated ‘PUSH’. So I was right. I thought to myself, maybe I was lacking of energy. Used two hands instead of one but still it didn’t move. There were about 7 people inside looking at me. The sight of them made me embarrassed and so I took a step to the left where they can’t see me and thought to myself, why no one took the effort to help me? I searched for PPIS number in my contact section in my hp but it was nowhere to be found. ALAMAK! Panicked! Then I remembered the call log, it should be somewhere there I thought. Yes, I found it and immediately called them.
“Assalamu’alaikum, boleh saya bercakap dengan Aida?”
“Siapa?”
“Aida”
“Sebentar”
The line was connected to Aida.
“Assalamu’alaikum. Aida, ni saya, khairunnisa. Saya dah sampai di luar tapi saya tak tahu masuk. Macam mana yer?”
“Hmm. You press the doorbell”
“oh ok ok. Thanks”
So I pressed the doorbell. Then I heard the intercom sounded. I went ALAMAK! What am I suppose to say?
Then I heard a voice.
“Khairunnisa, awak boleh masuk sekarang”
YA ALLAH! Punya malu dan selenger aku dibuatnya!
Then she went missing. I walked and everyone looked at me. So I thought to myself, “why is everyone looking at me?”
Then only I realized I didn’t take off my shoes. LOL! Selenger lagi aku!
I was asked to fill in the volunteer form. Then someone else called my name. Salam her and followed her to a room.
She introduced herself as Zakiah. She is a bubbly person. At least I felt comfortable talking to her. I got to know that she was from Al-Maarif and she know Sakinah and Ridhwan from RP. What a small country. I was interview on how I am going to react to a situation given and was brief about the programme, being a mentor, meeting my mentees monthly, and meeting their parents’ etc. 2 mentors to 5 mentees. Interesting! Currently they are dealing with student of Bedok Town Secondary School. Before I leave, I was supposed to sign a contract and some basic ‘rules’ with them for this programme. She also told me to ask any friends who are interested in this programme to join as well. So anyone interested? ;P I doubt anyone is interested.
