Islamic Issues

Our (my mother together with me) typical morning are occupied with informative chronicles of anything that came to our mind. However, today was a little different. She started the conversation with some religious issues. Firstly, she asked me about Nahu which I went totally clueless. I have yet to master Arabic language and that explained my hopelessness. Secondly, she told me that Ustazah mentioned about full-time Madrasah which will be closed in 2010 as requested by the Singapore government so as to standardize the Singapore education system. I have no idea if it is true but according to my mother, Ustazah said it is more on the terrorism issue that they are doing this. Whatever it is, if they decide to close down full-time madrasah, I am uber disappointed with the Singapore government. Really! Since blogging about Singapore government can bring harm, I shall cut my words off. Thirdly, Ustaz mentioned that kita telah diperbodoh-bodohkan oleh bangsa lain regarding the design of the new mosques nowadays. New mosques in Singapore like Masjid An-Nadhah, Masjid Assyafaah, Masjid Al-Mukminin etc. are built without the kubah which is an important symbol for Islam. Ustaz even said that he once went to this place in Singapore and he went round just to search for a mosque. He knew there is a mosque somewhere in that area but he just couldn’t find it. Why? Because the first thing he will search for whenever he wants to locate a mosque is the kubah but since kubah is nowhere to be seen in that area, he went round and round just to search for it. However, what surprises him most is that the place right smack in front of him is actually a mosque. It doesn’t look like a mosque at all. It looks like a church instead. Nauzubillah. Yes, the exterior design of the mosque may look nice but don’t be fooled by the design until the kubah which symbolizes Islam is trivial to one’s eyes. What will other religion says about our religion, Islam? Easily being deceived? If other religion like the Christian can maintain their symbol which is the cross, why can’t we do the same (maintaining our kubah)? I think it is time for us Muslim to wake up and uphold our beliefs. We shouldn’t be gullible especially by the non-Muslims and worst still let others take control of us. This issue also explained the importance of seeking knowledge in Islamic context.

Let me end my entry with the youtube video regarding what Muslim women think about wearing hijjab.

Question for the entry: Where is sincerity in one’s heart?
